Alan
Martin Farber received his A.A.S. Degree from the State University
of New York at Farmingdale with a major in animal science in 1968.
He then continued his studies at Cornell University, with a B.S. from
the College of Agriculture also in animal science in 1970. He was
then accepted to study abroad at the University of the Philippines.
He received his DVM degree with honors in 1975.
After school, he was the first foreign veterinary graduate to be accepted
to the prestigious Henry Bergh Memorial Hospital in New York City
for a rotating clinical internship in small animal medicine and surgery.
Upon completion of his advanced education he spent a year in private
clinical practice in northern New Jersey.
He returned to the Bergh Hospital as a senior staff clinician and
after four years he was appointed the Assistant Clinical Director
of outpatient services. In this capacity he supervised nine other
veterinarians.
The Manalapan Animal Clinic and Hospital was established in 1980 by
Dr. Farber. While continuing his relationship with the Bergh Hospital
for two years he built his own hospital. Besides operating the Manalapan
Animal Hospital he has performed consulting responsibilities for Doctor
Pet, PetCo and the Shake a Paw pet stores.
Dr Farber is an active member of the American Veterinary Medical Association,
(AVMA), the NJ Veterinary Medical Association, (NJVMA), the American
Animal Hospital Association, (AAHA), and the Association of Avian
Veterinarians, (AAV).
He resides in Monmouth County with his wife Helen, and their family
of three dogs and two cats. |
